Terms of Service

Effective Date: 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of CrowdFund Uganda (the "Platform"), operated in the Republic of Uganda. By registering an account or making a contribution you agree to be bound by these Terms and all applicable Ugandan laws, including the Computer Misuse Act, 2011, the Electronic Transactions Act, 2011, and the National Payment Systems Act, 2020.

1. Eligibility
  • You must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
  • Registered organisations must be validly incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap 110) or the NGO Act, 2016.
  • You must provide accurate identity information for KYC verification.
2. Campaign Creation
  • Campaign creators are responsible for ensuring all information is truthful and not misleading.
  • Campaigns must not violate Ugandan law, including the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2013 and the Penal Code Act Cap 120.
  • The Platform reserves the right to suspend or remove any campaign that breaches these Terms or applicable law.
  • Campaigns must not promote hate speech, discrimination, or activities prohibited under Ugandan law.
3. Contributions & Payments
  • Contributions are processed via MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money and are subject to the respective operator's terms.
  • All amounts are denominated in Uganda Shillings (UGX).
  • A platform fee of 5% is deducted from funds raised before disbursement to campaign creators.
  • Contributions are generally non-refundable unless the campaign is cancelled by CrowdFund Uganda or proven fraudulent.
4. Disbursement

Funds will be disbursed to the campaign creator's verified mobile money account within 5–10 business days of campaign closure or goal attainment, subject to KYC approval and fraud screening.

5. Prohibited Uses

You must not use the Platform to:

  • Raise funds for illegal activities under Ugandan or international law.
  • Misrepresent your identity or the purpose of a campaign.
  • Conduct money laundering or terrorist financing contrary to the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2002.
  • Upload malicious code, spam, or infringe third-party intellectual property.
6. Intellectual Property

Content you upload remains yours. By uploading you grant CrowdFund Uganda a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and promote the content on the Platform. The Platform's own design, code, and trademarks are the property of CrowdFund Uganda.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Ugandan law, CrowdFund Uganda is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses. Our total liability shall not exceed the platform fees collected from the relevant transaction.

8. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be referred to mediation. If unresolved, it shall be submitted to the courts of Uganda, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction, and Ugandan law shall apply.

9. Amendments

We may amend these Terms at any time. Notice will be provided via email and on the Platform. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
